Tuesday morning HCAOA (Home Care Association of America) Executive Director Phil Bongiorno addressed the audience. Constant Contact representative Corissa St. Laurent updated the group with social media and relationship marketing trends. Tuesday’s breakout sessions covered topics such as Nurse Delegation, POLSTs, Diversity, and Customer Service themes. Tuesday afternoon, With A Little Help caregiver and blogger, Sarel Rowe, received WAHCA’s first annual Caregiver of the Year award.
Near the close of Tuesday’s conference, on a softly lit stage, speakers Phyllis Shacter, a VSED (Voluntary Stop Eating and Drinking) advocate, and Trudy James, advocate for planning a good death, combined to address the conference with moving testimony supporting choice and end of life planning.  James’ collaborative film,  “Speaking of Dying,” emotionally touched many the audience.

WAHCA, the Washington Home Care Association, a chapter of The Home Care Association of America (HCAOA),  is  the leading organization representing the home care industry. WAHCA works year round providing resources that lift the bar for services and help home care professionals stay up to date with laws and policies impacting business, employment and service delivery.

“Every speaker was great, every topic I needed help with was covered. I left there yesterday feeling like I could take on the world, and that I have the tools to do it,” said Home Instead Senior Care franchise owner Amy Benson about the 2014 Washington Home Care Agency’s 8th Annual Blooming With The Bloomers Conference.  This year’s conference is equally resourceful and enjoyable.
