OBLITERIDE AND BREATHE DEEP SEATTLE HAVE SUCCESS RAISING MONEY FOR CANCER RESEARCH

Breath Deep Seattle and Obliteride events have success in raising funds for cancer research. 100% of Obliteride’s profits go to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center while Breath Deep Seattle raises money for the LUNGevity Foundation, a grant making entity supporting lung cancer research and education. “Look, everyone has been affected by cancer in some way shape or form,” concludes the narrator of a video advertising Obliteride. Teams hopped on bicycles or took a stand with their own two feet  joining others the weekend of August 8 and 9 to raise money and awareness for needed cancer research. It’s too late to participate but it’s not to late to donate.

The Breathe Deep Seattle 2.4 mile walk around Seward Park, on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 9 a.m, was a stroller, pet, wheelchair, and bicycle friendly fundraising event welcoming families! This walk has raised over a quarter million dollars for lung cancer research, education and advocacy over the past five years and is well on its way to $100,000 pledged for this event. Breath Deep Seattle is part of a national fundraising drive organized by the LUNGevity Foundation. The LUNGevity Foundation, a 3 star grant making charity according to Charity Navigator, is the largest private sponsor of lung cancer research funding 115 research projects over the last 13 years including work at Fred Hutch and the University of Washington. Lung cancer survival rates are inching up but it still remains the deadliest form of cancer accounting for over 25% of all cancer deaths. Take a step forward.  Support lung cancer research with your donation.

Obliteride, August 8 and 9, 2015 at various start times, offered 7 different bicycle courses from 10 miles in length to multi city rides. Participants without bicycles could borrow their wheels at the event or participate as a virtual rider. The fundraising deadline is Sept 30 so you still have time to donate.  Obliteride cyclers, powerhouse fundraisers, have raised over 4 million dollars for Fred Hutch research over the past two years.

Every dollar of support makes a difference. In the video above we see Cancer survivor Nina Garkavi cheering on Obliteriders at the finish line, “Thank you,” she says, “We’re going to find a cure, we’re going to find a cure. Keep going.”  Thank you, Seattle. With your help research will prevail.
