Caregiver Requirements

With a Little Help is always interested in hearing from warm-hearted individuals who wish to be of service to others. Our Caregivers work one-on-one with our clients in their homes. The services we provide vary greatly and are tailored to meet each client’s needs. In meeting these needs our Caregivers work a variety of shifts including 24-hour shifts, overnight shifts, and partial day shifts in the morning, afternoon, or evening.

We look for Caregivers with excellent communication skills who are honest, patient, reliable, and able to work independently. In addition, you must successfully complete all applicable Washington State training requirements.

Additional Job Requirements

Caregiver Requirements

In November of 2011, Washington voters approved initiative 1163. This initiative requires that all newly hired Caregivers complete a 75 hour training program within 200 days of hire and become certified as Home Care Aides by passing a written exam and skills test.

Certain new hires will be exempt from this training requirement. They include:

  • Certified Nursing Assistants
  • Registered Nurses
  • Licensed Practical Nurses
  • Nurse Technicians
  • Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners

“I think one of the most impressive parts of WALH is your encouragement (and pay) to go to trainings. I think that is one of the wisest policies any organization can have to ensure competence of employees.”
